The Horses Are Calling | Sculptural Vase

The first piece created for The Horses Are Calling, this one-of-a-kind sculptural vase became the foundation from which the entire collection grew. Every piece that followed traces its beginnings back to this piece, making it both the origin and the heart of the series.

Inspired by themes of movement, instinct and possibility, this work explores the quiet moment when something inside asks to be followed. It is about trusting your path, embracing momentum and finding the courage to keep moving forward.

Hand-built from terracotta clay, each horse has been individually sculpted by hand. Delicate ribbons of white clay weave around the vessel, each one hand carved, inlaid with black underglaze and inscribed with an original handwritten poem. As the vase is turned, the words slowly unfold, inviting the viewer to pause, read and discover the work from every angle.

Designed as both a functional vessel and a sculptural artwork, this piece invites conversation and rewards close observation. The horses move continuously around the form, carrying the poem forward in the same way that each step leads to the next.
